Our Foundation

The mission of the Texas Civil War Museum is to collect and preserve artifacts relating to the history of the American Civil War and the role Texas played in the conflict. The museum interprets the collection to the public through the use of exibits, educational programs and publications.

The vision of the Texas Civil War Museum is two fold: We pledge to continually educate future generations about the character and courage that all Americans demonstrated in helping to build this nation. Our second desire is to be a world- class museum with the largest and finest collection of Civil War artifacts anywhere in the country.

The goal of the Texas Civil War Museum is to provide for the long term funding of the museum through its endowment program. These donations allow for the expansion of our tradition of private support that has characterized the development of this organization since its inception. The estimated amount needed is five million dollars.

In order to achieve this vision, the TCWM needs you to join us in bringing this endeavor to fruition. The TCWM believes all gifts are important. As you review our giving opportunities, please be reminded of the common bond we share with the many generations of Americans who came before us. The artifacts housed in the TCWM embody the spirit of why the soldier fought and why he died. The men and women represented in the TCWM may have had nothing more to leave to us and to those who come after us except reminders of a heritage very rich in honor and glory. The ideas of liberty and freedom are fundamental lessons that must be taught, learned, and defined for each generation.

We have the opportunity to make a difference. We have the responsibility to not only educate our children but to remember the sacrifices of those who came before us. We invite you to partner with us to ensure the propetual telling of this uniquely American story. The TCWM is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization. All donations are tax deductible to the extent provided by law.
